Nyx has been training ever since she can remember, so of course, she can only be thrilled to be sent on her first mission as a Vindicator. She is steady with purpose and ready to make her first kill for the cause.

At least... she thought so.

Complications on this assignment send her mind reeling, spiraling to a place that feels impossible to come back from. Consequences of a head injury cause memories to trickle in that have been locked away for years, and as her once concrete resolve crumbles away, she finds herself faced with a decision.

Oh, did I say decision? No, she didn't have that luxury. Nyx is forced to leave behind the only life she has ever known, and not much time passes before she is lost and found in pursuit of a past she had forgotten for so long.

Fun fact: I totally left a very rough, unfinished draft of this story in the dust about two years ago to prepare and revise The Euphoria: Outcast. I thought maybe I would return to Written in Red eventually, but that felt far away. I didn't think I would touch it until I published the entirety of the Euphoria Trilogy.

But I had a revelation during a restless car ride: that being on my journey to publish for the first time, it can feel pretty high stakes. So much of this process is completely new to me, and admittedly a bit intimidating. I realized that to publish the first installment of the biggest project I have ever worked on is a huge first endeavor. It's like diving straight into the deep end when you don't even know the doggy paddle.

So, I decided to work on a smaller project. To revive my passion for the process as a whole and fall in love with the journey all over again. I blew the dust off of this story, one that is still dear to me even after sitting untouched on a word document for years.

I've smoothed out some wrinkles in the story line and adjusted parts of the plot. The structure and character arcs are clearer, and over 30,000 words into the redrafting process, I am absolutely loving it.

Scroll down for the vibe ;)
